Tony and Rose we having problems. Rose decided to rent a place of her own. She found a cabin on Little Manistique Lake. DeAnna hated leaving Judy behind. The came was 30 miles from where they were living. And school was another 30 miles away in Newberry.
For Christmas vacation Judy got to come and stay with them. DeAnna's mom worked a lot. She worked as a bartender in Newberry. Their landlord lived next door in a big house. The wife kept a watch out for them while her mom worked. Their daughter had a lot of games to play. Or they'd go ice skating.
One day DeAnna and Judy were so bored. DeAnna came up with the bright idea to walk across the lake. Their girlfriend Laura lived across the lake. You could see their house, although it looked small. So they bundled up and off they went. It was a cloudy cold day. As they started to get half way across they were getting tired. And they started to fall through the first layer of ice. Luckily there was a second layer but there was water in between the layers. And it was over their boots. Their boots started to fill up with water AND IT WAS COLD! They thought of turning back but realized they'd have just as far to go so kept going. It was getting to be evening by the time they made it across. They were so cold and tired. When they got to Laura's house they found out NO ONE WAS HOME! They knew they wouldn't be able to make it back. So went to the neighbor's house. Luckily they were home and drove them back home. They were so happy and swore they'd never do that again! When they got home they put warm dry clothes on and climbed into bed and fell asleep.

That summer DeAnna found out that her dad, grandparents and Larry were moving to Georgia. Her mom took DeAnna and Bobby down state to visit with their dad, brother and grandparents while they were packing to leave. Their grandparents said they would bring them back up north before they left. DeAnna was so excited. They got to stay a week before her grandparents took them back. DeAnna got to spend some more time with Dusty again. Time seemed to fly by and it was time to take them back up north. Little Larry went with them. When they got back to the cabin their grandma bought her and Bobby ice cream. But DeAnna hated eating it in front of Larry. He couldn't have any sugar. But he said he didn't mind. They had bought him some that was sugar free. DeAnna tasted it.......... but she didn't like it. Larry said you get used to it. Her grandma said they'd stay a couple days but would have to get back then. The weather was so nice they all went swimming. In the summer you could walk about a quater of a mile out and it was only knee deep. It was called Round Lake by most locals because of that. The water was so clear you could see the fish swim by. DeAnna enjoyed her brother being there. Rose decided to get back with Tony. So they packed up and moved back in with him. DeAnna was glad. She missed the kids. She always had fun with them. But it was time for them to leave. DeAnna cried as they left. She would miss her brother. He was always her favorite.

DeAnna's dad had been dating Lilly. She had worked as a guard in the police station when her dad was put in jail for drunk driving. She found out she was pregnant. They had talked about getting married. But Lilly didn't want to move to Georgia and her dad didn't want to stay in Michigan. So he moved without her. She said she would come to visit. DeAnna really liked Lilly. She was a sweet woman. She hated to see her dad wasn't gonna be staying in Michigan with her and their baby.
