They would also have picnics on St Simons Island & Jekyll Island. They'd cook out, throw horse shoes and walk the beach.
A friend of hers had made her a big sign made out of cardboard and clothe with the picture of the lady with a big bonnet that
covered her eyes and she was holding a rose. And with glitter that said "Singles Connections". So any new members
could find them. She used the lady with the rose as her company logo.
They all meet one time at her office and rode down in two cars to Jacksonville Florida and went on the Emerald Princess.
Which was a gambling boat. It was three levels the bottom level had a dinning area and bar. The second level was all sorts
of gambling machines and porker tables. The third level was all open with rails all around it to view the ocean. They were
given a full course meal which that day was roast beef. Drinks and gambling was extra. And another small meal before the came
back inland. No gambling was permitted until they were seven miles off shore. It was really fun. If you didn't get into gambling
They had a singer in the bar area.
DeAnna also set up a plane ride round Brunswick and the Golden Isles. DeAnna discovered she had air sickness. It was a
small plane that only sat four people. But it was awesome. The view was really amazing.
And every Wednesday evenings they would meet at the Suites Hotel in the lounge. They had happy hour with free shrimp and
snacks. She would bring the portfolio for anyone who didn't have time to get into the office during office hours. She would
bring the game Jigina. And with each drink people ordered wither it was alcohol or not. Then at 7 pm if they called your ticket
number you got to go in the Money Machine. They would shut off all the lights and turn the strobe lights on. And you would
get thirty seconds to be in the Money Machine. It was the size of a telephone booth. And air blew up from the floor. There
was fifty one dollar bills and one fifty dollar bill. You were not allowed to stuff any down your shirt or pants. DeAnna got
to get in it twice. The most she ever got out of it was $26. There was one person she remembered one time who got $62 because
they got the fifty dollar bill. But it wasn't anyone from her group.
Robert came up to the Suites and to one of her picnics. He was from Germany. He came into the office with a friend of
his who had joined. DeAnna Had the hots for Robert. But she wouldn't date any of her customers. She had really hated it because
most every man that came in wanted to date her. She was getting so sick of it she thought of wearing a gray wig and dressing
up aas an old woman so the men would leave her alone.
They would also head out to Pelican's Point which was about 30 miles away and out in the middle of the woods. But it was
an awesome restaurant that over looked the river. There were shrimp boats docked there. And they had an awesome All You Can
Eat Buffet. And for New Years they'd head up there together. Upstairs was a lounge and had bands that played.
She had set up for the group to go to Sea Island at the Cloister for ballroom dancing. Members had said they wanted to
go. So DeAnna went out and bought a new dress for $50 and had her hair done. But no one showed up. She was so bummed out.
She tried it one other time and still no one showed up. So she scratched that off her calendar.
And at Christmas they meet at the pier and rode the trolley around the island. They were served cookies and cocoa as they
waited for everyone to show. Then they rode around the island looking at the Christmas lights and singing Christmas Carols
along the way. They stopped at the King and Prince Hotel and walked into the lobby and sang carols there. It really touched
her heart to do something as spectacular as that.
DeAnna found out that with setting up dates she had almost become a counselor. People would call her on wither the dates
went well or not. One time one lady called her about her date and the phone was beeping so she switched over to the other
call and it was the guy on the phone about the same date. It was rather comical. She never promised they find the love of
their life right off the bat. One couple she had set up though did plan on getting married. It really touched her heart to
know she could be of such service to people. She felt so proud of herself. Like she could hold her head high. She had come
so far down the road. So see my dear friends.........
