When they got to Brunswick, Georgia the weather was hot for end of August. It was already beginning to snow when they left Manistique.
The grass was brown and thin. But grandma and pa had banana plants growing in the backyard. Her dad had a Dalmatian named Salty. And grandpa had built a swing from trees he cut down in the woods behind their house. DeAnna loved the weather. Bobby lived there and loved seeing her and John. He was glad to be a uncle. He kept him busy while DeAnna laid in the sun to tan. She couldn't believe she was laying in the sun with NO SNOW on the ground!

DeAnna got a job working at The Cloister on Sea Island. It was a millionaires island and hotel resort. The president and movie stars stayed there. Her grandma babysat for her. She loved it there.
She got a car and found a place for her and John to rent. It was outside of town. In order to make ends me she swung another job. Working at the Hilton on Jekyll Island. As a waitress for breakfast. And Sea Island in the evenings. Anyone who was just hired could only work the evening shift. It was only 4 hours work but the pay was like a full 8 hours. Although you were only considered part time. You were payed only a waitress pay per hour. But you also were payed per person you served. So the more people you could serve the better you were payed. They were not allowed to tip. Although at the end of the guests stay there if they liked your service enough some would slip you a extra bonus when they left. The guest always sat in the same table for their meals. And the waitresses always had the same section. DeAnna really enjoyed meeting people from all over the world. She'd talk with them a lot and was always very well liked so she got quite the few bonuses. She even had write ups about how good her service was.
DeAnna's mom had a break down. Doing things she normally wouldn't do. So her grandparents payed for a ticket for Keith to be brought to Georgia.

Through the years all she did was work and take care of your boys. She loved it in the south. The weather, beaches and the islands were heaven to her. Life felt so good!
But at nights when she slept she had dreams of being back in Germfask. They were often dreams of her and Judy when they were kids. Or of her and Tony. They were always good dreams. But as time went on it made it hard for her to live in the present day. It was like her dreams of the past were stealing her happiness away from the present day.
She really didn't know what to do. She talked with a friend she worked with at Sea Island about it. He had a friend who was a psychiatrist so set it up for her to talk with him.
