Ronnie was still playing on the weekends at the bar. Sometime later he got a new drummer who was so cute with the most beautiful blue eyes. She feel in love. Tony Hobby. He had girls hanging around him all the time. And of course she always have guys hanging round the bar. They kept their eye on each other all the time. He started singing songs to her like "Tossing & Turning". She'd go home at nights dreaming about Tony.
Then one day Sheila came by with Steve. SHE COULD BELIEVE THE NERVE OF THAT GIRL!!!!! She let them in and Sheila was all happy really rubbing in about what they had been up to. DeAnna acted like it didn't bother her. She told them about Tony Hobby. DeAnna knew Sheila had the hots for him. And he was by far.............. much cuter!!!!!!!!! And had a lot more going on for him. He held down a day job and played in the band. She told them how she planned on asking him about letting her do some songs of hers and her singing with the band. And she could arrange with Dennis to do something music wise. She had his business card and he had said he'd help her out. Sheila looked a bit pissed. And decided to leave. DeAnna just smiled and had a good peace of mind knowing she got her pay back.
Tony didn't drink but one night at the end of the night he came up to the bar and said he'd drink her under the table. She just laughed and said yea right. So they both got to drinking. They both got tore up. She rarely ever went home with anyone but that night he took her home.
He had passed out on the couch when they got in. She went upstairs to bed. The next morning he wanted to go upstairs with her but she shooed him off to work. He came by another night the kids were around. He just said he wanted to stop by and say hi. And left. The band started singing the song "Evil Ways" by Santana. But she had a dream one night about him. She had went up to the bar and dance with someone and it pissed him off.
DeAnna finally took one Saturday night off she wanted to see him. She tried not to do what she dreamed about. But it was like she had no control. She danced with someone and it did make him mad. The band quite playing after that night and he didn't come around again. She went to St Simons Island she heard he was hanging around there. She found out he started seeing some rich girl. Sometime later they got married. It rather upset her bad. She never even got to talk with him about doing a band together. She wondered if she would of ever slept with him would it of made a difference. She had been holding out on him because she didn't want to mess things up. She would never know. This was something she wasn't use to. She had always been the one to quite seeing someone. Never the other way around.

DeAnna missed the band playing. But business was still good. Billy Dukes had bought some 150% Grain Alcohol they mixed it in with a jar of cherries. Billy would give some to the steady customers. He got to where he kept it around.
DeAnna got so tore up one night and after the bar closed she rode with some friends over to Luz's a good friend of hers from Panama. She had lost her license for DUI. There were a few people there and they partied into the night. She must of been in a black out and decided she wanted to go home and left walking. Her apartment was not far down Altama which was a four lane street. As she walked down the road . She came out of the black out and seen a black man standing on the corner. She didn't think much of it as she up toward him. But as she passed him it was like she knew something was gonna happen and got scared. All the sudden he had graped her with his arm around her throat. He had a knife in his other hand which he held to her throat. And he pulled her up the side street down Kenningston. She knew what was gonna happen and she started telling him he didn't want to do this. But ever time she said it he punched her in the face and told her to shut up. She went into a black out again. He must of taken her up the next road. She came to again they were in a patch of woods next to a Jiffy Store and Zeeks Liquor Store next to the road Luz lived on. He threw her down on the ground and took her shirt off and pulled down her pants. She laid there quite and still. She knew he would kill her if she didn't. He did his thing and she just kept her eyes closed crying. He finally got up and took off down the road. She laid there crying and scared. Her pants were down past her knees so she pulled the the rest the way off. And took off running out of the woods back onto Altama. A police officer was going down the road on the opposite side and did a up turn and stopped in front of her. Thank God it was a lady officer. She got a coat out of the car and walked over to her to cover her.
"What happened?" She asked.
DeAnna could hardly talk she was crying so hard. "He raped me." Was all she could say.
The officer put her in the car and took her to the hospital. They took pictures of her and cleaned up her face. And did a pap smear. They asked her to call someone to come get her. The only one she could think of at the time was Billy Day. He got there right away.
"Oh girl! Are you alright?" He asked as he walked into the room.
"I guess. Thanks for coming to get me." She said she could hardly talk her whole face was beat so bad.
"No problem girl." He said as he gave her a hug.
When they left the hospital they were asked to stop by the police station to answer some questions. So they headed there. When they got there they asked her to do a photo. She described him the best she could. Then Billy took her home.
He walked her inside her apartment. God, she felt so bad.
"You gonna be alright?" He asked her as they went inside.
"I should be." She said quietly.
"Well, call me if you need me for anything. You know I'm not far." He said as he gave her another big hug.
"Thank you so much Billy." DeAnna really liked him a lot. He was a really good friend.
After he left DeAnna went upstairs. She was glad the boys were gone for the weekend. She felt so dirty. So she took a bath. She sat in the tub scrubbing herself all over. She wanted to get clean. She scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed. But it was like she couldn't get clean. She felt dirty from the inside. She finally gave up and went to bed. They gave her some medicine from the hospital to keep from getting any infections. And something to help her sleep.
When she woke that Sunday morning her face felt huge and she could hardly see out them. She looked at herself in the mirror she couldn't stand to see what she seen. Her eyes were black and purple. Her mouth was swollen bad. She had to just turn away.
That night when the boys got home they asked what happened to her. She told them she was in a accident.
"Are you alright?" Johnny asked.
"I will be." She said as she hugged him tightly. They all went in the frontroom and watched tv together. God, she was so glad she had them.
The next morning the boys went off to school. And DeAnna rode her neighbor to college. They both went at the same time. She had dressed in big baggy pants and shirt. She went to her morning computer class. Her teacher asked what happened. They were all in the class room. She told her.
"My God girl! I hope you're gonna be ok. That's just terrible."
After that class was over DeAnna left school. She got a friend to drive her home. She just couldn't go to her classes like this. She went home and cried. DeAnna got to where she wouldn't leave her apartment day or night. Sheila had moved to NY but found out about what happened. She called her and told her she would come down and stay with her for a few weeks.
Her first week of staying there DeAnna still didn't leave her apartment day or night. Sheila went shopping for the house items and food. She finally got to where she would walk over to there laundry mat to get the mail at the mail boxes.
The second week of being there she asked DeAnna if she wanted to go out with her. DeAnna's face was getting better and thought she would like to go out. So they went to a club. The place was pretty full. They got a drink and sat down at a table. DeAnna got to looking at all the black men which was only a few there. She got to thinking if that was the one that did it. She really felt uncomfortable so they didn't stay long.
Sheila had to go back home. So left to go back to NY.
"Goodbye DeAnna." She said as she headed out the door. "You gonna be alright now?"
"Yes. And thank you for coming down to stay with me. I got my spiritual studies to get into." She said as they hugged each other goodbye. She was really glad she came to stay with her. She watched as she drove away.
