Please Don't Say Our Time Is Over

DeAnna had been in college three years. But couldn't pull herself to go back. She couldn't stand to look at herself in the mirror. She still wore baggy clothes. There was a song she loved so much on MTV "Take My Breathe Away" by Berlin. She loved on the lead singer had her hair dyed blond on top and black about 3 inches on the ends. So she decided to dye her hair like that. After wards she began to feel better and herself.
The police kept her clothes as evidence. They told her when they caught the guy she would get them back. As time went on she never got them back. She did find out there were two others girls who had been raped. They were scared to do a picture. But when they found out she did they went in to do one their self. One was exactly like the one DeAnna had done. She felt good knowing two other girls had gotten up the courage to do a picture because she did. She hoped it had helped them out emotionally too.
DeAnna had quite working at the bar when it happened. But since she was feeling better she went back. Lamar Gore knick name her Cat Woman. She loved the nick name.
Randy had found out what happened. He really like her. But most guys did. She felt safe there because of the guys liking her so much she felt protected. She didn't sleep around and they really respected her. Many a guy out their butt's whipped if they were out of line with her.
She had broke up countless numbers of fights with all kinds of people for all kinds of reasons. Some people with either a knife or a gun. A few times she had to call the law. But they would find out and be gone by the time the law got there.
Randy came up there one night to talk to her about the rape. He said he wanted to pick her up that Sunday and go ride the neighbor where she was raped to see if they could find the guy.
So that Sunday he picked her up and they rode over to Fairway Oaks. They went up the road he had drug her down. The seen some young guy that look like him. They pulled over the car and parked. They went into the patch of woods she had been taken in. He was standing outside in the drive two houses down. Randy aimed his gun to shot. But DeAnna stopped him.
"No don't!" She said as she grabbed his arm. "I'm not sure it's really him. I don't want to see someone innocent die."
"Are you sure?" He said as he lowered the gun.
"Yes, I'm sure! I don't really know if that's him. Come on lets get out of here."
"Alright! If you say so."
They got in the car and drove slowly by the house. He looked at them as they went by. She couldn't be sure. So many of them look alike to her.
She started dating this guy who came into the bar. She thought he was this guy she had her eye on. He was really cute and drove a wrecker. It was a Saturday night and the place was packed. She worked from noon to closing. And what was so funny the place never got packed until 10pm. She'd be in there all day rather bored to death. Sometimes cleaning the mirrors, liquor bottles, tables and floors. But hopefully someone would come in and they'd throw darts. Of course she was there all day so she'd kick most every's butt on it.
Jimmy had been coming in there for quite the few nights. That Saturday nite the place was packed and music kicking. So at ten minutes to two she shut off the juke box and gave last call like always. Of course everyone was having fun and talking and not wanting to go. So she did like she always did, well, she found worked great. She took a beer bottle and break it on the bar. Holding up the neck end telling everyone to leave. Of course, she always got their attention with that and everyone would head out the door at the same time.
Jimmy had been sitting in the conner of the bar where she broke the bottle at. She took the bottle and said 'No, not you! You stay here.'
He just sat down kinda bewildered as everyone headed out the door. She counted out the money took her tips and caught a ride with him to the house. She didn't have her license so couldn't drive.
They started seeing each other. He was from Ohio and she was from Michigan.
That Christmas she had gotten up and the boys opened their presents. Jimmy had went out the door. But she didn't think much of it. She was too busy watching her boys open their presents. Then Jimmy came up from behind her and said here open yours. She turned around and it was a tall box. So she opened it up. Then there was another box wrapped up. Then another. And still another. Until she got down to a very small box. And it was a diamond ring. He told her for every year she stayed with him it would get bigger.
It didn't ever get any bigger. He was so jealous of her he would get drunk on Jim Beam. He broke her ribs one time. And another her jaw. That was it she had enough. She packed her bags and left.
She meant this couple she really liked a lot, Scott and Lorraine. He worked for the coast guard across from Dukes and they lived in Fairway Oaks just down the block. They were both so funny and sweet. She really enjoyed their company. She always had a blast with them. They'd come up to visit and on DeAnna's nights off they all go to Frisky's together. There was usually a band so they'll danced alot.

Billy Dukes heard DeAnna talking with Scott and Lorraine about going round to junk yards looking for a race car body with a roll bar already in it to match up with the engine from the car she still had that was hit. After Billy asked her if she wanted him to take her around that weekend to help her look. She said yes and there it was on.
They started working on it behind the bar. Which Billy and Bravo's trailer was right behind the bar. DeAnna would bring the boys with her on the weekends to help tear the insides out. THE BOYS LOVED IT!!!!!!!! FINALLY SOMETHING THEY COULD TEAR UP AND NOT HAVE TO PUT IT BACK TOGETHER OR GET IN TROUBLE FOR IT!!! Everyone seemed to come by on Sunday's and help out a little here and a little there. Bobby Turner did all the welding and David Sutton did most of the engine work. So Billy, Bobby, David and DeAnna was suppose to take turns driving it.
The first time they took it out for practice Billy and Bobby drove it first. They wanted to make sure it was running and handling right. Then it was DeAnna's turn to take it for a run.
As she put her helmet on she was getting really nervous. She wanted to chicken out she was so scared. But she told herself NO SHE COULD DO THIS!!!!!!! She climbed in and they were explaining somethings to do. AND SHE WAS OFF!!!!!! She started rather slow to get the feel of it. Then the second lap ran it faster. It was so ex-zellerating!!! She could feel the groves in the track the drivers talked about! Her adrenalin was never so high!!!!!!
Through the summer the guys got into racing the car every Friday night. They would leave DeAnna bar tending. She bitched at Billy all the time about letting her drive. They all just kinda blew her off.
One night at the bar Jim Irwin came in who lived on the island and had a business of his own. She had mentioned to him before about wanting to quite working at the bar. She had enough of trying to deal with the guys not letting her drive HER CAR!!! She had wished she would of just done it on her own. Even if she didn't win and least she'd be out there on the track. He said she could come work for him before as a typesetter and printer. She asked him if he still needed some extra help. He said yes. So her and the boys were moving to the island.
That night before the move she went with Scott and Lorraine to Emmaline and Hesse's. It was a very nice restaurant and bar on the river just before you got on St Simons Island. It was sweet! The band played out on the deck which over looked the river. DeAnna meet a guy, Mark, from Michigan there. He was there training at F.L.E.T.C. They danced the night away. He was really good looking, well built and nicely dressed. She had a fun night and as they left he gave her his phone number to call him and they'd go out to dinner.
