As the bus pulled into Brunswick DeAnna felt so excited to be home. Lorraine was there waiting to pick her up. DeAnna ran up to her and gave her a big hug. "DeAnna I'm so glad you're back. We really missed you!" Lorraine said as she hugged her back. DeAnna was in tears. "I'm so excited to be home! It seems like it was long I've been gone!"
"Well, come up lets get your bags and get you to the house." They picked up her bags off the bus and headed to the car. The sun was shinning and the sky seemed so beautiful on such a fall day.
DeAnna felt so different like she had changed. All that time in there. The crying and thinking that she had did.
Rainey and Scott wanted her to go out to the bar that night. But she didn't want to drink and told them no.
"Oh come on girl! You're free now! Let's go celebrate!" Scotty exclaimed.
"No, thank you guys. You go ahead. I'm just gonna unpack and do some reading." DeAnna said as they headed out the door. "Have fun! But be careful!"
"Ok! But call us if you need us or change your mind. We'll be at Frisky's." Rainey said and gave her a big hug. "We're glad you're home!"
DeAnna went to her room. God she was glad to be home. She did some unpacking and pulled out her bible. She laid on the bed and read until she fell asleep.
DeAnna rode her bike the next morning to St. Simons Island. She got there round noon. Anthony was home sitting in the hammock on his porch.
"So good to see you!" Anthony said as she got off her bike. "come on and have a seat." He said as he opened the door and gave her a big hug.
"It's great to see you too!" She sat down in the hammock next to his.
"Would you like some lemonade?" He asked her as he went inside.
"Yea, that would be great! Thank You!"
They sat and talked for an hour. Anthony had to go back to work.
"If you're still around this at 5 stop back by."
"Ok! See ya later!" DeAnna rode her bike to the beach. HOW GREAT IT WAS TO BE FREE AGAIN! She hung out on the beach until 5 pm. They sat and talked for another hour. And he got a friend of his to give her a ride with her bike back into Brunswick.
She got into her mediations heavily. God was so good! She felt such peace within her.
Lorraine and Scott had been packing to move to New York. She hated to see them go. She moved in with another lady friend around the conner. She knew Luz for a lot of years from Esther's Lounge.

DeAnna decided to throw Lorraine and Scott a surprise going away party. She talked with Lonnie the owner of Frisky's about having it there. She got friends to chip in what they could money wise or bring a dish to eat. She bought a keg of beer from Lonnie. And had a couple of tables set up for food.
She wanted to hire a male stripper for Lorraine. Remembering the time they went to see the Chip-N-Dales strippers downtown. But she didn't know where to find one. She looked around without luck. So she called Balloons Unlimited and they had a male gorilla that had a big donger hanging down. He would dance around and then hand her a balloon that said "We'll Miss You!"
She set everything up and had everyone to get there at 6pm. She had asked Rainey and Scott to go out with her to Frisky's for a good drink. She had fixed herself up in a purple spandex outfit and did her hair up like Lonnie Anderson's. She wanted this to be a night to remember. She got them to be there by 6:30 pm. When they walked in she made sure she was the first one through the door so everyone could see her. Then everyone at their tables stood up and yelled "SURPRISE!"
"Oh my God!" Rainey screamed. "What's this?"
"It's your going away party!" DeAnna said as she hugged her and Scott.
"Wow!" Scott exclaimed. "Thank you Deb!"
They walked over to the table to fix themselves a plate and popped the keg. Everyone walked over to talk with them and grab something to eat and drink. It would up being a pretty good turn out.
The gorilla was set to be there at 8:30pm to give them a chance to eat and drink a bit. The gorilla motioned to the owner as he opened the door so DeAnna could get Rainey and Scott over to the jute box looking for songs to play. And not see when the gorilla first walked in. They were standing there picking out songs and it was all DeAnna could do to keep from laughing knowing what was coming up. The gorilla walked over with his donger swinging it was so big. He was all black with a tan doner.
"Hey sexy!" The gorilla said to Lorraine.
Lorraine turned around and screamed when she seen him. Scotty turned around and looked shocked. The gorilla danced around a little. The whole bar was quite expect for the jute box playing.
"This is from all your friends!" The gorilla said as he handed her the balloons. There was a water balloon tied to the bottom to keep the other balloons from floating off.
"Squeeze them gently, baby!" The gorilla whispered to her. Rainey held her hand out with the other hand over her face. Scotty just stood there laughing. Friends were snapping pictures. Then gorilla gave her a hug and shook Scotty's hand and said goodbye. Waving to everyone as he headed out the door.
"Oh my God girl!" Rainey said to DeAnna. "That was something else."
Everyone was all laughing. They knew what DeAnna had planned for them. It was really something else to see.
The band started playing at 9pm. DeAnna pulled Lorraine onto the dance floor and called the other girls to come out on the floor. Lonnie had a huge beach ball he tossed to DeAnna and all the girls bounced it around to each other up in the air. They really had a blast that night. DeAnna was happy it went so well. They stayed until closing time. What a night to remember. She sure would miss them though.
