The next day she rode her bike down to the pier again. Anthony was sitting out on his porch. She waved as she rode by. On
her way back he was still out there so she stopped to say hi again.
"Hi! It's a beautiful day! I love riding my bike on the beach."
"Yea, I don't get time to do stuff like that. I'm on call 24/7. Come on up here and look on my couch there just inside
the door."
His house was really small. She walked inside and there on the couch was a long box. "What is it?" She asked.
"Well, look inside!" He yelled in to her.
She opened the box and inside were a pair of the hammocks he was sitting in. He had gotten up and walked inside. She looked
so excited.
"They're for you!"
"FOR ME?" She couldn't believe it. She was so excited. "Wow! Thank you!" She said excitedly.
"You want some lemonade?" He said as he walked into the kitchen.
"Sure!"
He came back out with two glasses of iced lemonade. It was rather warm out. And they went back on the porch to sit and
talk. She loved listening to him. He had so many stories to tell. He traveled all over the islands. That night at home she
laid in bed thinking of him. He said he only was at that house a hour for lunch and a hour at dinner time. It was his two
hours to himself. He felt like he was in jail with gold bars.
She got to stopping by his place every weekend. They'd sit and read poetry together. He was so intelligent and reserved.
And so big and strong. Her heart melted every time she was near him.
One day he stopped by her place. The boys were off playing with their friends. She was surprised he came by. As he walked
in the house he bumped into the door. She almost wanted to laugh. He was so big and strong it looked silly. She could tell
he was kinda nervous. They sat for a few minutes. She had her hammocks in front of the fireplace. They were on a wooden beam
going across the ceiling. They talked for few minutes.
"Sit here a minute." He said as he got up. "I got something for you and the boys."
So she sat there. And when he came back in he had a big box in his arms. He walked into the kitchen and set it down. It
was a box full of food. He walked back out and made four more trips. She couldn't believe it! There was all kinds of stuff.
All kinds of food and even shampoo's, conditioners, and tons of toilet paper. And even three cartons of cigerattes and three
bottle of red wine. Which she'd keep in the freezer. She knew it was well over $300 worth.
"I know you've been having a hard time making it with the boys. So I thought I'd help out a bit."
"Thank you so much!" She said as she gave him a big hug.
"Oh, it's nothing! Compared to what they spend in that household." She knew the man he worked for his wife had
died, his daughter was married and his son stayed in jail because of cocaine.
"Well, I got to go. Enjoy!" He said as he walked out to his car. He had sold his T-bird and had a very masculine
El Dorado. She waved goodbye as she watched him leave. The boys came running in they had seen Anthony leaving.
"What's all this?" They all said as they started digging through the bags.
"Boy look at this! Ice cream, pudding, donuts and candy bars! YEA!!!!!!!!" They yelled."Ok! Give me that!
Pick one thing for now and the rest is getting put up. And you need to thank Anthony when you see him again.!"
"Alright! We sure will!"
"It would be nice if you raked his yard for him."
"Okkkkkkk........." They said not sounding happy about it.
That next weekend she found out they did his yard alright!
They had come running in the house.
"Look what we got! Look what we got!"
She couldn't believe it. HE PAYED THEM A $100 TO SPLIT BETWEEN THEM. But he said they had to give it to me to take them
shopping.
Scott & Lorraine would stop by at nights and have a few drinks with her. They were so happy she meant Anthony. They'd
have a blast like always just hanging out and drinking. They really loved the place she was living in.
AND REALLY LOVE THE HAMMOCKS! DeAnna would they chill in them with the fire kicking.
Some nights they would head up to Murphy's Tavern which was a few blocks down the road. It was a really a happening bar.
It was more like southern rock music. It was rather old with wooden floors, a fireplace and three pool tables. It really had
a southern beach type atmosphere. They loved it there. They had a couple cute guy bartenders. They always sat at Doug's end
of the bar. DeAnna thought he was cute and he was fun to talk to.
DeAnna came up with the idea of putting together a business of her own. She was single and knew how hard it was to find
someone of interest to date let alone marry. So she started a match makers business through the post office since she didn't
have the money to rent a office. She named it Love Connections, 638-LOVE. She did her own printing, advertisements in the
newspaper. When she received her first payment she was so excited. Anthony took a picture of her and her first check.
