CHAPTER 7 - Young Love

The trip was long but they all talked alot and enjoyed the trip. The mountains were beautiful.
DeAnna was glad when they finally got there. It was late at night. They all had a drink and smoked some pot to unwind. They sat outside on the porch to enjoy the stars and night sky. It was beautiful. DeAnna loved the country.
Rose got so high smoking pot & drinking she had to go in and use the bathroom but couldn't stand up. She laughed so hard. So she crawled on her hands and knees. Everyone just started laughing.
"You gonna crawl to the bathroom?" Sheila asked laughing so hard.
"Yea!" Rose laughed.
"Oh, come on mom." DeAnna said laughing and tried to help her up off the floor.
"Ok!" Rose tried standing up. But as she got up she went back down. "I cann't!"
"Come on Rose. I'll help you" Rick said as he picked her up and but her arm over his shoulder. He walked her to the bathroom. "I think you better hit the hay. Sheila, get the bedroom ready."
So Rose made it to the bed with everyone giving her a hand. It was a long drive and they drove right through. As soon as she hit the bed she was out.
The next morning the sun was out. Sheila and Rick had a beautiful place in the country. The house was kinda small and older but for the two of them it was good.
They went into town and bought things to have a cook out. Rose stayed a few days. But before she left they all went horseback riding over some big water falls. And went to a cave inside a mountain. The weather was hot. So DeAnna had wore shorts. Boy, was she in for a surprise when they got inside the cave. IT WAS COLD! And all through the tour DeAnna was wishing she would of wore pants. It was beautiful though. It was so neat to see such life inside a mountain. Water ran inside and it was so dark.
One evening Rick called a buddy of his to stop by, Doug Rogers. DeAnna though he was so cute. He had blonde hair and drove a 55 Chevy with dice in the window.
The next day they all planned to go to the river. It was awesome. It was at the bottom of some mountains. It wound it's way through. The mountains were so tall and nothing but rock straight up. DeAnna loved Tennessee.
Then it was time for Rose to leave and get back to work. She had took a week off.
DeAnna was talking with Sheila and telling her how she hated to go. She really loved it there.
"Well, lets talk to mom about you staying for the summer."
Sheila said.
"ALRIGHT!" DeAnna jumped up and hugged her sister.
"Mom!" DeAnna called out for her mom. She walked into the room where her mom was packing.
"Yes, DeAnna, what is it?"
"I really love it here and don't want to go. Sheila said I could stay for the summer. Can I stay? PLEASE!"
Her mom looked up at her. "Well, I guess it would be alright. I hate having to drive back by my self. But other than that I don't see no problem with it. I know you'll have fun here. There's not as much to do in the city. And I work all the time anyway."
"Oh, THANK YOU MOM!" DeAnna ran over and gave her a big hug and a kiss. "Here, I'll help you with your packing the car."
So Rose left early that morning. DeAnna wished she would stay too. She really loved her family. Always having fun and being there for each other. DeAnna cried a few tears as she left. Hoping she would be ok driving alone.
That afternoon Doug came back by. They all hung out on the porch. Drinking, smoking and listening to music. So it got late. Rick had to work in the morning so went to bed. Doug had to go to work too. DeAnna got up to go in and as Doug got up he said "Hey DeAnna? Want to go into town with me tomorrow afternoon when I get off work?"
DeAnna looked up at him, she was a bit surprised. "Yea, I'd love that. Round what time?"
"About 6pm."
"Ok, see you then." She said as he walked off to his car. She thought it was so cool. She loved old cars, it was sweet. She waved goodbye as he drove off.
"He's so cute!" DeAnna said to Sheila who was sitting on the porch still, smiling.
"Yea, her sure is. And he's really sweet too. I know you'll have fun with him."
DeAnna and Sheila sat outside pretty late that night. DeAnna went out the minute she hit the bed.

That evening DeAnna was ready when Doug pulled up. They drove into town riding up and down the strip in McMinnville. DeAnna loved riding in his car. He played Bad Company "Feel Like Making Love" on his eight track player. DeAnna felt like she was in heaven. There was a place people would park and hang out. Doug pulled in and talked with a few friends. He introduced them to DeAnna. They were all very friendly. It got late so he took DeAnna back to Sheila's. They were already asleep. As he walked her up to the door he kissed her goodnite. It was the sweetest kiss ever!
"Can I see you tomorrow?" He asked her. "I'm off over the weekend. We can get together I'll show you around some secret places."
"Yes, I'd love that!" DeAnna said she felt like she was on cloud nine!
"Ok, see you tomorrow. I'll come by round 11am. Sweet dreams!" He said as he walked to the car. DeAnna stood in the doorway as she watched him pull away. She looked up to the sky. It was full of stars. So peaceful and quite! What a beautiful night she thought to her self as she went inside.
That morning DeAnna woke up at 9am. She heard Sheila and Rick talking in the kitchen.
"Good morning!" Sheila said as DeAnna walked in smiling. "Boy, you must of had a goodnight."
"Yep! We just drove up and down the strip and I meet a few of his friends. But God, I love his car!"
"Yea, it's a real classic!" Rick said.
"He's coming by to pick me up at 11am." DeAnna said as she poured her self a cup of coffee.
"Wow! He must really like you! To be coming back that soon." Sheila said. DeAnna just kinda blushed.
When Doug got there they took off right away. He took her to a park where they climbed trails through the mountains. They wondered off so far soon they were all alone.
"Cann't catch me!" DeAnna said as she took off running down a trail.
"Bet you I can!" Doug said running after her!
He catch up with her and grapped her and they fell softly to the ground. Laughing as they went down. They layed there for a moment looking into each others eyes. And he slowly kissed her. DeAnna felt like the whole earth was slowly spinning. As their kiss became very intense.
"Come on!" He said as he helped her up. "We better go."
She got up and took off running again. Laughing the whole way. Doug ran after her. Soon they were back to the car.
"You hungry?" Doug asked her as they got in.
"Yea, I guess I could eat something."
They drove into town and pulled up to A&W. She ordered a burger and rootbeer float. Then they went back to Sheila and Rick's. They all hung out on the porch listening to music and getting high.
The next day Doug came by early again. They all went to the river swimming. It was great. DeAnna was so happy.
Doug came by everyday and the summer seemed to pass too fast. DeAnna's mom called to tell Sheila it was time for her to go home. She had school. DeAnna had talked to her mom asking if she could stay there with Sheila. But her mom told her no. DeAnna ran into the bedroom crying. She didn't want to leave. She loved it here. And she was in love with Doug.
That night Doug came by DeAnna told him she had to leave tomorrow. They drove off together. Doug took her to a mountain top that over looked town. They just sat there in the car holding each other, kissing and talking. He said they would stay in touch by letters. He wanted to stay in touch and marry her one day. He gave her his address for her to write. That night when he walked her to the door and kissed her goodnight, tears fell down her face.
"Don't cry! We'll see each other again. I promise!" He held her tight. "If I have to come up there and get you, I will!"
"Ok, I love you Doug."
"I love you too DeAnna!" He said as he kissed her so passionately.
As he drove off she watched him go. Then ran into her room to cry. The next morning Sheila took her to the airport. When her flight was ready to leave they said their goodbyes.
"Goodbye little sis!" Sheila said as she hugged her. "I enjoyed you're being here. And you make sure you write to Doug. He really loves you. I can see it in his eyes."
"I will! Thank you for letting me stay!" DeAnna picked up her bag and walked away waving goodbye. God, how she hated having to leave. It was so beautiful the mountains, caves, swing bridges, rivers and Doug! It was the life she wanted. How she hated being so young. She would never leave if it wasn't for her mom.
