So Bobby and DeAnna moved to Brunswick Georgia. Her uncle Stan had the house built since he was stationed at Glynco in the Navy Service. DeAnna loved it! It was so warm there. Her dad had a friend he knew that was in the Navy. They were Cody's they lived in Everett about 20 miles out of town near the Altama River. On Saturday she loved heading out there. Her dad would be drinking and cut up with her. He always be playing CCR or Deep Purple eight track tapes. He loved the song Smoke On The Water. DeAnna was surprised he liked such cool music. Candy was a couple years older than DeAnna. She was so pretty. She had long blond hair down to her hind end. DeAnna wished her hair was that long. Her brother Brian was so cute. DeAnna liked him a lot. Sometimes she would spend the night out there and the two of them would sneak off in the night together. Brian gave her his class ring to wear. Brain and Candy had horses so DeAnna would go riding whenever they went out there. If she rode alone out there she'd ride Candy's horse. It was younger and was full of energy. Brain would let DeAnna ride his horse when she rode with Candy. Her and Candy would ride down to the river or down Old Jesup Road. She loved riding down Old Jesup Road it was cracked tar not many cars drove down. All along the right side of it was swampy. On the other side of it through the woods a bit was the new highway most cars drove down. Riding the horses down the road gave you the feeling of the south. There was moss hanging down from the trees. And she knew there were gators around in the swamp somewhere.
DeAnna always loved going out to the Cody's. They'd stay rather late at night. The summer nights felt so good out there. One night they were just hanging around and her dad was drunk. There was a set of railroad tracks next to their house. Some empty cars sitting there. Her dad climbed up one and started jumping from one to another. But one he jumped and missed and hit his chin on the top of the box car. He came down hard on the ground. He was bleeding bad. They rushed him to the hospital and he had to have stitches in his chin.
DeAnna was really enjoying the summer. Candy had a new yellow Mock One Mustang with two black stripes up the hood, roof and trunk. They would go to the drive-in and guys would want to race her down the road. They had a blast.
DeAnna broke up with Brian. She just didn't seem to like him all that much anymore. Her and Candy were having too much fun just hanging out. They'd go to the Navy Base and hang out at the pool. Or go to the movie theater there. They saw the movie 'Tommy' from the Who. And they hang out at the Teen Club at night and dance.

DeAnna's dad was into building a motorcycle. It was a chopper. He drank a lot on the weekends. On Friday nights he'd come home late and drunk. DeAnna would be asleep but she could hear him fighting with her grandpa.
DeAnna wrote to Judy quite often. She got a couple letters from Judy. Then one day she got a letter from Steve. She couldn't believe it! He always hated her. She ran into her room to read it. He had said that he had always loved her and was sorry he was so mean to her. He was always jealous of Tony because she was in love with him.
Oh my God! DeAnna thought! Steve was always in love with me! DeAnna kissed the letter and held it to her heart! She always did like him but always thought he just hated her! She kept it in her jewelry box and read it often when she was feeling sad. It would bring a smile to her face.
Soon school started so she didn't get to go out to Cody's much anymore. There were some girls there wanting to fight DeAnna. The one girl said she was going steady with Brian Cody. She wanted to see DeAnna after school. DeAnna told her she wasn't going with him anymore. She had broke up but the girl was still pist. DeAnna was kinda scared. She knew she'd have her friends with her. And DeAnna had just moved there. She didn't know anyone. So after school that day she went outside. There was a group of girls waiting for her. A crowd gathered around waiting to see the fight. The girl walked up to DeAnna and just as she did a girl behind DeAnna stepped up in front of her. Her name was Burnece Chambers. DeAnna never met her. Burnece said she'd have to fight her first. The girl backed down and called DeAnna a few names and left. DeAnna thanked Burnece she told DeAnna she hated that girl. DeAnna hated school. She had meet a few girls in the neighborhood. But her dad didn't let her do much.
One Saturday evening her dad said he was gonna take her and her brothers to the drive-in. They went to see a movie called 'Gator Bait'. It was a movie about a young woman who was raped by a couple men. She ended up getting even with them by taking them out into the swamp and left them out there to die! DeAnna loved it that a woman did that to the men who raped her. She really admired the woman. She wished she was older and had the courage to do that to Big Tony. That night she was so sad and laid in her room listening to some music and just started crying. She thought about what Big Tony did to her and she felt so miserable. She couldn't sleep that night and round midnight got up and went into the bathroom. She went into the medicine cabinet and took a bottle of aspirins. She just wanted to kill herself!
